Chelsea’s young midfielder Trevoh Chalobah, who is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town, has had impressive stats in the Championship this season.

After Conor Gallagher’s superb loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Swansea City, and Billy Gilmour’s remarkable back-to-back man of the match performances in Chelsea’s last two games, it appears Chelsea will have another midfielder ready to break into the first-team next season in Chalobah.

The 20-year-old has been a key factor in Huddersfield’s midfield since his arrival in a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.

The youngster has made 28 appearances in the Championship this season, often been deployed in a holding midfield role.

According to football statistics platform Playmakerstats Twitter account, Chalobah has had the most interceptions (41) among players aged 21 or under in the Championship in 2019/20.

He is also one of only two Under-21s to complete more than 1000 passes in the league; and that with a remarkable 75.9% passing accuracy (Whoscored).

He excels in interceptions and passing, so  Chelsea may have another Jorginho in the making.

Chalobah joined Chelsea as an Under-9, along with his brother Nathaniel, who left Chelsea to join Watford in 2017.

He made his breakthrough into senior football in 2018, securing a season-long loan deal with Ipswich Town.

Predominantly played as a defender throughout his schoolboy years, Chalobah has since moved into midfield.
