Chelsea Need To Strengthen
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard believes the Blues need to strengthen in January, in order to compete with Manchester City and Manchester United.
“If you’re looking at Morata there, Batshuayi has come in and had moments where he’s scored but seemingly he doesn’t trust him.
“Then you have to play Hazard there and change a lot of things. So I think maybe a backup striker.
“I think they are going to have to strengthen in midfield at some point but that may be next year. But I think you have to keep strengthening because everybody else is.”
Courtois Contract Delay
Thibaut Courtois believes talks over a new deal at Stamford Bridge won’t take place until the end of the season. The Belgian will enter the final 12 months of his contract with Chelsea in the summer, and the most recent talks over a new deal in May failed to reach an agreement. Delays over a new deal may spark interest from Real Madrid, who have been keeping tabs on the goalkeeper in recent moves, as they ponder over signing a replacement for Keylor Navas. In recent months, the Belgian has talked about his fondness for La Liga, and spent a number of years on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Willian to United
Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing Willian to Old Trafford. The Brazilian has hardly featured for the Blues this season, and Jose Mourinho could bring his former player to the club. Mourinho has already been reunited with Nemanja Matic at United after signing him in the summer, and the winger is reportedly next on his list. United were reportedly interested in signing Willian in the summer, but a deal could not be completed, and could return for the Brazilian in January. Willian started in the Champions League on Wednesday and scored twice as Chelsea beat Qarabag 4-0.
