Several Chelsea players sent messages to Olivier Giroud after the striker scored four goals against Sevilla on Wednesday.
It was the 34-year-old’s first start in the Champions League this season and he certainly didn’t waste his chance.
Four goals, with his left-foot, right-foot, his head and a penalty; Giroud will not forget that evening in Seville anytime soon.
Giroud himself humbly said it was a “great team performance” after the game. But everyone, including his teammates, knows who deserves the most recognition.
“Oli on fire tonight! Great team performance,” Kai Havertz wrote on his Instagram.
Meanwhile, Christian Pulisic wrote: “What a performance from the boys. Oli on fire.”
Captain Cesar Azpilicueta shared a picture of himself with Giroud and the hat-trick match ball.
Callum Hudson-Odoi also congratulated the France international, saying: “Oli on fire. Great performance today, we keep going.”
Tammy Abraham, who got his rest against Sevilla wrote on his Instagram story: “Last 16. Oli, what a night, bro.”
Chelsea will go back to London and prepare for another big test against Leeds United on Saturday.
