Chelsea are returning to the United States of America for their pre-season tour in 2023. So, here is everything you need to know about the Stamford Bridge side’s plans for this summer.

The west Londoners took a trip across the pond a year ago under Thomas Tuchel as they set about life with Todd Boehly’s consortium now Chelsea’s owners. But the Blues will be hoping for better in 2023 having failed to finish in the top half of the 2022/23 Premier League table.

Boehly and co also fired Tuchel and his replacement Graham Potter before Chelsea legend Frank Lampard returned in caretaker charge. Now, Chelsea’s first-team squad and academy will strive to impress a new manager during the Blues’ pre-season tour of the USA in 2023…

When does Chelsea’s pre-season start?

Chelsea are yet to confirm when their first-team squad and academy prospects will return to Cobham for pre-season training. The Blues reconvened in early July last year before flying to America on July 9. Chelsea’s first friendly in 2022 was then against Club America on July 16.

It is likely that Chelsea will again reconvene at Cobham in early July to start their pre-season in 2023, too. The Stamford Bridge outfit will play their first friendly of the summer on July 19 in a greatly-anticipated meeting against Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC.

As of May 26, Chelsea have announced five pre-season friendlies for their tour of the United States of America in 2023. The Blues will face Wrexham AFC in Chapel Hill, North Carolina as part of the FC Series. Their fixture is a national expansion of the Florida-based Florida Cup.

Chelsea will also meet three fellow Premier League teams in America with Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Fulham. The teams are all competing in the inaugural Premier League Summer Series. While the Blues will play a further friendly with Borussia Dortmund.
