Chelsea's Mount shares Lampard's half-time talk after poor performance against Arsenal
Mason Mount shared Frank Lampard’s half-time team talk as Arsenal handed Chelsea their third defeat in the last four games.
By the time the first half ended, Chelsea had already been down by two goals.
The visitors were perhaps a bit unlucky to concede a penalty and a free-kick goal in the first half, but they also struggled at the other end of the pitch.
After 45 minutes, Chelsea didn’t register a shot on target.
Unsurprisingly, Lampard was unimpressed with his team as he made a bold claim in the dressing room, according to Mount.
“He said it was probably one of the worst first-half performances since I’ve been with him,” Mount told Chelsea TV after the game.
“[It] wasn’t good enough — We are playing for Chelsea and we can’t represent the club like that.
“As players, we know that. That’s the harsh reality and lesson we’ve got to learn.
“We can’t start a game like that. It hurts, but we have to move on now, and we’ve got a quick turnaround.”
Arsenal scored their third goal before Tammy Abraham scored a consolation goal for Chelsea in the 85th minute — and it was far too late.
As things stand, Chelsea now have just 25 points from 15 Premier League games with seven wins and four losses.
