Chris Sutton has made the prediction that Thomas Tuchel’s spell at Chelsea is going to “end in tears”.

The Blues confirmed on Tuesday evening that Tuchel has been appointed the new head coach at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel, 47, has taken charge as Chelsea boss, which is his first job in English football and the Premier League.

Frank Lampard was recently dismissed after 18 months in charge of the club, but he left with the team five points off the top four in the Premier League, in the FA Cup fifth round and in the Champions League last-16.

Pundit and ex-Blues forward Sutton has given a negative outlook on Tuchel’s appointment at Chelsea, questioning owner Roman Abramovich.

He’s suggested that there could be a clash of opinion between the manager and the hierarchy eventually.

“Thomas Tuchel is on his way and you expect that will end in tears. Tuchel isn’t a yes man. He’s fallen out with his past employers,” Sutton told the Daily Mail.

“His appointment tells us a lot about Abramovich’s mindset. Chelsea’s owner isn’t bothered about building — it’s about winning and finding the fastest route to that.

“He doesn’t mind hiring Tuchel and firing him in 18 months, so long as the German delivers a big trophy or two. That’s the Abramovich way.”

Tuchel is yet to take charge of a single game at Chelsea, but there are already some out there who are waiting for it to go wrong.

Recent history suggests that the German’s spell as manager at Stamford Bridge may not be long-term, but that’s not to say he can’t enjoy success and anything can happen in football.

He’s enjoyed previous success at Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, and is now a new exciting addition to the Premier League.

Chelsea owner Abramovich might not be everyone’s cup of tea and his approach to sacking managers may be ruthless, but the club are where they are largely because of his investment.

Tuchel’s arrival marks another new chapter in the manager merry go round, but each one is different and brings its own excitement.

He looks a real personality and he’s had history clashing with club officials, but fans should be excited for what he can bring on the pitch with his attention to detail in tactics.
