Emerson Palmieri hits back at 'fake reports' on Frank Lampard's training methods

Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri has hit back at media for the “fake reports” regarding Frank Lampard’s training methods.

On Tuesday, Italian publication Tuttosport ran a story about Emerson’s likely summer departure from Chelsea.

The reports also mentioned a potential reunion between the 25-year-old and former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri, who is now at Juventus.

Tuttosport, however, also claimed Emerson apparently dislikes Lampard’s “sergeant-like” methods. This story, which is a lie according to the Italy international, has been reported by several other media in the last couple of days.

Emerson has taken a stand on this issue and made a statement on Instagram.

He posted a few screenshots of the reports to his Instagram stories and said: “The world is going through a really difficult moment and there are journalists who want to spread fake news around to have content.

“I don’t speak too much, but here is my only and last statement regarding these news. I never said that and I think definitely the opposite of what was mentioned (without my knowledge).”

Emerson has not featured for Chelsea since January, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso being preferred by Lampard in the last few months.

Italy manager Roberto Mancini has recently advised the former AS Roma defender to return to Italy to boost his Euro 2021 chances.

Chelsea are reportedly looking for a new left-back this summer, with Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell and Porto’s Alex Telles among the candidates.
