Enrique In
Another day, another manager linked to the currently occupied managerial job at Chelsea. Despite the club announcing that Antonio Conte’s job is currently safe, it hasn’t stopped the rumours. The next man to be linked to the hot seat at Stamford Bridge is former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique. The Spaniard has been out of work since leaving the Catalan club in the summer, following three years with the side. Reports claim that Enrique would prefer to take over in West London in the summer, so he could bring a number of his backroom staff with him, who are currently at Celta Vigo. Maurizio Sarri has been linked with the job in recent weeks, too.
Links to Suarez
And if Enrique takes over at Stamford Bridge, he will target Luis Suarez to join him in West London. Reports suggest the Spaniard will raid his former club to bring Suarez back to the Premier League. The Uruguayan international spent a few seasons in England with Liverpool, and was a key player for the Reds, and scored 69 league goals during his time at Anfield. A deal for Suarez would be hard for Chelsea to pull off, and the striker is said to be happy in Spain.
Asensio Wanted
Chelsea have targeted Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio ahead of a potential summer move, according to reports. Asensio is said to be frustrated over his lack of playing time in the Spanish capital, and could be on the way to the Premier League come the end of the season. Any deal for Asensio could involve Eden Hazard, as the Spanish champions are said to be highly interested in the Belgian’s signature. Interest in Asensio has increased in recent weeks, after former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata talked up the signing of the 22-year-old.
