Eredivisie top scorer says he is Chelsea fan and wants a summer move
Heracles Almelo’s Cyriel Dessers said Chelsea have been his favourite club since childhood and admitted his interest in playing outside Belgium and Netherlands.
Dessers is currently the joint top scorer in the Eredivisie with 15 goals, level with Feyenoord’s Steven Berghuis.
Speaking in an Instagram Live (as quoted from Eredivisie’s official website), the 25-year-old revealed his admiration for Chelsea since his early age.
He added: “My favorite Chelsea player was Arjen Robben, he was always injured, but he was really my favorite.
“I used to be a big fan of Thierry Henry, now I love watching Romelu Lukaku.”
Dessers named Berghuis who is his competitor in the top-scoring chart and Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech as the players who have impressed him the most in the Eredivisie.
Ziyech, as we have already known, will join Chelsea this summer after meeting the pre-agreement for a five-year deal.
The Belgian striker also opened up about his desire to play beyond the Belgium and Dutch borders.
He said: “I also have the ambition and dream to play outside the Netherlands or Belgium. I think now is the time to take that step.”
Dessers who was born in Belgium to Belgian father and Nigerian mother, was supposed to make his debut for Nigeria national team for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, before the coronavirus outbreak.
