Reece James earned admiration from several members of the Chelsea family tree following his goalscoring performance against Arsenal.

Romelu Lukaku’s return to the Premier League earned virtually every headline and review after the Blues beat Mikel Arteta’s men 2-0 yesterday afternoon.

His goal quarter of an hour from the start epitomised what Chelsea can expect from their club-record signing this season.

Strength, awareness and simply a man who can stick the ball in the back of the net.

But Lukaku was not the only member of Thomas Tuchel’s contingent to demonstrate an eye for goal.

James lashed home a sweet strike ten minutes before the interval, having been offered the freedom of the Emirates turf.

As a boyhood blue, it was clear how much this effort meant to him as he turned away in celebration.

The 21-year-old captured his emotions in an Instagram post shortly after the victory, which was met by a swam of Chelsea responses.

Fikayo Tomori reciprocated what every Blues fan was thinking after James smashed his shot past Bernd Leno.

Callum Hudson-Odoi also commented on his teammate’s defensive display, which was steady for the most part.

Overall, it was a delightful occasion for the Cobham academy graduate in North London.

Not to mention a statement of intent from Chelsea to the rest of the division.

They are not messing around in their attempts to reclaim the title off Manchester City.
