Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Chelsea’s Frank Lampard are both dealing with injuries to their stars ahead of tonight’s clash.
Guardiola will be without his top goalscorer Sergio Aguero for the match, but he will also have plenty of other options in his squad.
“Tomorrow he (Aguero) will do a surgery in Barcelona with Dr Cugat,” he said yesterday (via Football London).
“After that we don’t know when he will come back and join us.
About Aguero’s potential replacement, Guardiola added: “We don’t have any doubts about Gabriel (Jesus).
“Raheem can play in this position, even Gundogan can.
“We have different options. Not a striker, but we have other options.”
Aguero is the fourth player on City’s injury list alongside Claudio Bravo, Eric Garcia and John Stones, who according to Guardiola, “will be ready in the next few days” as he is already training on the pitch.
Meanwhile, Lampard said his options remain unchanged since Aston Villa game, although Jorginho is now available after serving a two-game suspension.
This means Chelsea will have two absentees in Fikayo Tomori and Callum Hudson-Odoi who are both close to returning according to the manager.
“Tomori a week away and Hudson-Odoi still searching for fitness,” he said yesterday (Chelsea’s official YouTube channel).
