Chelsea manager Frank Lampard expects the same level of performance from the players as he hinted at potential rotation ahead of Wednesday’s Sevilla trip.
Chelsea have secured a spot in the Champions League knock-out stages after their win at Rennes last week.
While they still occupy the top spot in Group E, second-placed Sevilla are also on 10 points, and the two sides will fight for the number one position on Wednesday.
Having been made to work for a point at Stamford Bridge in their first meeting in October, Lampard is clearly aware of Sevilla’s quality.
“It is a tough group with a particularly tough competitor in Sevilla,” the manager told Chelsea’s official website.
“It would be great for us to do so [finish top], at the same time we have a particularly busy schedule at the minute.”
Interestingly, he also suggested that there could be a few changes in the line-up for this game.
“Can I give some extra players some minutes in these last two games? Yes,” he added.
“Do I expect the levels to drop? No.
“That is part of having a strong squad, that we have good competition and it is a group that we actually want to go through first, so it will be two tough games that we need to get right.”
Sevilla will head into the game having won their last five games in all competitions. They have also won four of their last five home games.
