Chelsea supporters were largely disappointed to hear that Kai Havertz will probably miss the tie against Tottenham Hotspur tonight.
Thomas Tuchel confirmed in his press conference via the club’s YouTube channel that Havertz and Kurt Zouma had picked up small injuries in training yesterday.
Both had been sent for scans but the manager doubted either of them would be present for the London derby.
Zouma has largely been out of the side recently so his absence probably won’t affect Chelsea too much.
Havertz on the other hand could’ve possibly played as one of the attacking midfielders in Tuchel’s revised 3-4-2-1 formation.
It seems he won’t be selected for Spurs and fans showed their sympathy for the struggling 21-year-old.
There is a general feeling that Havertz needs a consistent run of games to regain the confidence he’s lost since his mega move from Bayer Leverkusen last year.
He hasn’t started consecutive Premier League matches since the middle of December. This coincided with the start of Chelsea’s abysmal run that concluded with Frank Lampard’s departure.
Tuchel has been in charge for less than a fortnight but the atmosphere around Stamford Bridge has certainly improved.
Four points from his first two fixtures is a good start to life in the capital but the German coach can really stamp his mark with a victory over Spurs.

My heart does go out to Havertz. He’s hit hurdle after hurdle and just can’t seem to find a break wherever he turns.
Let’s hope it’s nothing major and who knows, Tuchel might be playing major Jose Mourinho mind games with us and Havertz does end up playing.
