Glenn Hoddle has stated that he’s noticed a considerable improvement from Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, who has been a regular in the team at the start of the season.
The 26-year-old has looked at his best in the first stage of the campaign and is part of a Blues backline that has improved massively in the past couple of months.
He’s formed a great understanding next to experienced centre-back Thiago Silva, plus left-back Ben Chilwell and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy are two more summer signings that have made a huge impact since being added to the team.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has stuck with Zouma as a first-choice centre-back despite a few individual errors last year and he’s repaying the manager’s faith.
“I’ve got to say Zouma has come on leaps and bounds. [Antonio] Rudiger partnered him the other day, Thiago Silva looks accomplished and such a silky centre-half defensively and with the ball. They’ve now got a bit of a foundation,” Hoddle said on his podcast.
With so many new signings currently impressing at Stamford Bridge, it’s easy to overlook come of the stars that were already at the club.
Zouma is a powerhouse centre-back that continues to improve with each game and finding his defensive discipline is key.
The France international provides such an attacking threat with three goals already this season and his dominance in the air is unrivalled by most in the entire division.
His defending has been a little erratic in the past, but Zouma now looks like he’s maturing with more experience and he’s got all the qualities of a top-class centre-back.
