Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was impressed by the Hakim Ziyech performance against Leicester City on Thursday night.
Chelsea’s penultimate game of the season ended up with a 1-1 home draw against Leicester to all-but secure third spot in the Premier League.
Marcos Alonso’s spectacular volley cancelled out an early opener from James Maddison, so two teams with very little to play for finished up all square.
The Blues have been in the thick of the action for most of the season with cup finals, European runs and the ownership saga. It’s a fairly quiet end to the campaign in the final two matches, though, which finishes this weekend at home to Watford.

Ziyech performance against Leicester
Ziyech has spent a lot of time recently on the bench with cameo performances, but he was recalled to the starting XI last night.
The £33million attacker delivered glimpses of quality in the final third with some positive sparks. In particular, he picked up some clever pockets of space in the number 10 role to pose a danger to Leicester.
Tuchel decided to give the 29-year-old some praise in his post-match interview after his contribution, especially for his overall work-rate.
“He had some unlucky decisions against him in the last few weeks. He always trained well and gave a good impact with energy in training and when he came on as a sub,” Tuchel said.
“It was necessary he gets the feeling from the start again. He tried everything and was very active.”

Ziyech future
A lot of the Blues fanbase are unclear on what the future looks like for Ziyech, who is still under contract until 2025.
The left-footer surely can’t be happy with his lack of football in the last couple of months, so it feels like a massive pre-season for him coming up.
It’s been reported the Moroccan’s future at Chelsea is potentially a doubt. Therefore, a big decision needs to be made by Tuchel on him.
