'He's a great player': Cesc Fabregas is a major fan of 25-year-old Chelsea star who shocked him in training

Cesc Fabregas has described Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen as a “great player” amid transfer links to Barcelona.

Christensen, 25, is a talented defender that’s now played 150 senior games for the Blues.

However, the ball-playing centre-back is one of the current players who’s out of contract at the end of the season at Stamford Bridge.

Spanish publication Sport reports that Barcelona are trying to arrange a pre-contract agreement to take him to Camp Nou in the summer. In addition, they’re chasing Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta, too.

Monaco midfielder Fabregas, who’s played for both Barcelona and Chelsea in his career, has given an insight into Christensen as a player having worked alongside him in London. He’s clearly a big admirer of the 25-year-old who managed to shock him in training when they first met.

“Christensen is being linked to Baraa, and I can tell you he’s a great player. He is fast, strong, great with the ball, agile, positions himself well. When I first arrived at Chelsea, he was a youngster training with the first team, and I was already surprised,” Fabregas said in an interview, as quoted by Barca Universal.

With Christensen’s current deal expiring at the end of the season, they’re close to losing him for absolutely nothing.

He’s a talented centre-back that’s got his prime years ahead of him and is getting better as a player under current manager Thomas Tuchel. Also, he’s got the perfect defensive mentor in Thiago Silva regularly playing alongside him in the backline.

It’s quite telling that Fabgregas speaks so highly of the defender.

He’s still a very young player that will mature with age, so Chelsea’s hierarchy should be going out to get him tied down to a new contract.

The Denmark international is definitely someone you could picture being a big success elsewhere.
