Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has positive N’Golo Kante injury news as they prepare for decisive Premier League battle against Wolverhampton on Sunday.

One point, is all Chelsea need from this game to secure a top-four finish and, subsequently, a place in next season’s Champions League.

And they have had a big boost ahead of the game as Kante who has been absence due to a hamstring injury could return for the ultimate day of this league season.

Speaking to the media, Lampard said (via Chelsea’s official website): “There is a possibility he (Kante) will feature.

“He has trained for the first time towards a match pace this morning, so it’s a decision I’ll have to make, talking with him and the medical team, to see if he’s ready to start.”

We will have to wait to see whether the France international is ready to start, but it’s positive news nonetheless.

If Kante is available, Lampard may revert to his preferred 4-3-3 system.

The manager has used Kante at the base of the midfield three since the Premier League restart and he will likely play return to that role tomorrow if he starts.

It will allow Lampard to field two No.8s. Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley (missed last game due to illness), and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are some of the options the centre-midfield roles.

But it also means Chelsea will now lose the extra defender they had in the past two games, with Cesar Azpilicueta likely returns to a wider role.

Christian Pulisic who impressed during his cameo against Liverpool would probably start on the left, with either Willian or Callum Hudson-Odoi on the right.

While up front, Olivier Giroud’s great form arguably guarantees him another start.

The big decision would be for the goalkeeper spot.

Kepa Arrizabalaga’s poor display should raise the chance for Willy Caballero to start, but Lampard has also kept his faith in the former before.

Predicted line-up (4-3-3):

James – Rudiger/Christensen – Zouma – Azpilicueta

Kovacic/Barkley – Kante – Mount

Willian/Hudson-Odoi – Giroud – Pulisic

But if Kante is still not fully fit, then Lampard may stick with 3-4-3 with some personnel changes.

Predicted line-up without Kante (3-4-3):

Azpilicueta – Zouma -Rudiger

James – Barkley/Mount – Kovacic – Alonso

Willian/Hudson-Odoi – Giroud – Pulisic
