'Huge': Michael Owen reacts after Chelsea make big announcement

Michael Owen credited Chelsea for concentrating on fixing the source of their problems by signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.

After the official confirmation of Lukaku’s second coming at Stamford Bridge, Owen punched a few letters into his keyboard and sent out a Tweet.

The former Liverpool forward said it was a ‘huge signing’ for the Blues and that it was ‘glaringly obvious how much they needed a top striker.’

He signed off his social media statement by claiming Chelsea had ‘not messed about’ by getting ‘one of the best.’

Although Owen’s punditry can sometimes be called into question, there is no doubt he got this particular comment spot on.

Chelsea truly have recruited one of football’s finest no.9s to plug their clear deficiencies in attack.

No player in Thomas Tuchel’s squad managed more than 12 goals last season.

Lukaku doubled that tally in Serie A alone (he scored 30 times overall).

If Chelsea are to challenge for Manchester City’s Premier League jewel, then they will need a center-forward who is at one with finding the back of the net.

Beyond Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski, there are few finer in the business than the Belgian international.

Permitted the stars situated around him can provide the service, he should be filling his pockets this year.

Which can help Chelsea take City all the way, rather than being swept behind in the trail of Pep Guardiola’s dust cloud.
