Frank Lampard said he is looking forward to seeing how his new striker Timo Werner fares against Liverpool defenders on Sunday.
The 24-year-old has had an immediate impact since his arrival at Stamford Bridge.
From scoring in the pre-season to winning an important penalty in the opening fixture against Brighton last Monday, we could see glimpses of the goalscoring machine we saw at RB Leipzig last season.
Although some understandably still have their reservations about his capability to perform against defences outside Bundesliga, Frank Lampard is confident about his new striker ahead of home fixture against strong Liverpool side.
He told Chelsea’s official website: “I will like to see Timo coming up against a fantastic Liverpool defence tomorrow.”
“I have no worries with how he will approach it in terms of the size, speed and strength of Liverpool.
“I’m sure Timo will back himself and give everything.”
The Chelsea boss, however, also emphasised that the new signings, particularly those from outside Premier League, would need time to adapt.
“As I keep saying about all the players who come from foreign leagues, they have to be given some time to adjust,” he added.
“I’m confident they will adjust quickly. We will work towards that.”
