'I told him': Tuchel shares his message to 23-year-old Chelsea player after his display in West Ham victory

Thomas Tuchel has shared he told Chelsea substitute Christian Pulisic how well he had done in today’s Premier League win at home to West Ham.

Pulisic, 23, came off the bench to score the 90th minute winner at Stamford Bridge against their London rivals.

The American attacker netted his fifth league goal of the campaign with a great first-time finish from Marcos Alonso’s cross.

He’s lost his position in the starting line-up during the last few weeks, but it was the kind of cameo that should bring him into more contention for more minutes in the upcoming games. Up next, a trip to Old Trafford on Thursday to face Manchester United in the league.

Tuchel has spoken highly of Pulisic in his post-match interview:

Your Club's SURPRISE Star This Season

“I am happy for him. I told him he had good impact… He lacked confidence in recent matches,” Tuchel said.

Chelsea spark

Thankfully, Pulisic was able to provide a spark the team desperately needed when he entered the action for the final 15 minutes.

There’s never been much doubting his ability during the last few years, but he doesn’t usually deliver over a consistent basis.

For certain, he’ll have eyes of breaking into best XI before the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium against Liverpool next month.

He’ll have to start scoring and assisting more for that, though.

It does feel like there is competition for places still all over the park in most positions, which means there’s still so much to play for before the cup final.
