Ian Holloway believes Wilfried Zaha would be 'fantastic' at Chelsea
Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of names since their transfer ban was cut short. One of those names is Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha. His former manager Ian Holloway has given his backing for the deal, stating that Zaha would do ‘fantastically’ for the Blues if he were to make the move across London.
The Ivorian has made his desire to leave Palace quite clear for some time, and it seems now is the right time to move on. After a good campaign last time out, Zaha’s numbers have been disappointing this season.
He has scored just two goals and provided one assist in 15 league starts. These numbers may be low due to the 27-year-old being unhappy at Selhurst Park, or down to the quality of the players around him.
When asked about the possibility of Zaha moving to Chelsea, Holloway said on TalkSport: ”I think he would be fantastic over there, I don’t want Palace to lose him but in reality, he’s going to have to go.
”I would love to see him in that sort of team. We don’t want to wish it, who knows. I don’t want to upset [Palace]. I think he’s improving all the time, I really do see an end product from him. I just love him. He’s one of my favorites ever because I’ve never seen anybody do what he can do.”
Holloway clearly rates his former player very highly and believes he would excel at Stamford Bridge. Although his returns so far this season may not be as high as Blues fans would hope, these numbers would surely return at Chelsea. Surrounded by the likes of Abraham, Pulisic, and Kovacic, Zaha could be a big success for Lampard.
