Jamal Blackman trains at Chelsea for injury rehab

Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman is back training at the club after returning from loan club Rotherham United for his injury rehab.

The 27-year-old made 10 appearances in the Championship this season after joining Rotherham on a season-long loan deal.

He looked set for the regular spot for the campaign before suffering an ankle injury and having to miss out on their last game against Preston North End.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne previously said the decision was made to send the goalkeeper back to Chelsea for a scan and treatment, but he didn’t know when Blackman will return to his team.

Blackman wrote on Instagram last week: “Just a quick update everyone, as you may know recently I’ve been playing through the pain barrier.

“Thankfully it doesn’t seem to be anything too serious but wanted to get everything checked out.

“Hope everyone is well, stay safe people and I’ll be back out on the pitch soon.”

And Chelsea goalkeeper coach Christophe Lollichon has recently posted a video update of Blackman’s encouraging recovery process.

“Rehab for Jamal Blackman (ankle injury) last week with Sami Tiemcani,” the famous goalkeeping coach wrote in his post.

While Blackman still had to train while sitting down, hopefully he will be able to be back on the pitch soon and complete the remainder of his loan spell at Rotherham.
