Jamie Redknapp picked out Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori for special praise after his performance in the win against Burnley.
The Blues won 4-2 against Burnley at Turf Moor and two late consolation goals for the hosts helped them on the scoreline.
Frank Lampard’s decision to recall Christian Pulisic to the starting XI worked a treat, as he netted his first goals for the club with an excellent hat-trick that will lift his confidence massively.
Chelsea are now really starting to look like a team that can finish in the Premier League’s top four despite the club’s transfer ban and they have won seven games across all competitions in succession.
Sky Sports pundit Redknapp singled out Tomori for praise for his latest display and is delighted to see him do so well at Stamford Bridge.
He was amazed by a last-ditch tackle the academy graduate made in the win against Burnley, where he showed his rapid pace to track back and deny a goalscoring opportunity.
“Tomori made a tackle second-half that was absolutely magnificent. He will make mistakes he’s a young player, but he’s showing so much quality and I think the fact he worked with Frank at Derby last year was obviously so important,” Redknapp told Sky Sports’ Premier League channel (7:55pm, 26 October).
Tomori once again looked composed in the Chelsea defence and his rise from the academy has been a special one.
He developed his game out on loan last season with Lampard at Derby County and is now doing a solid job for him at Stamford Bridge.
The Englishman has a great understanding next to Kurt Zouma that is developing at centre-back and it will be interesting to see where Antonio Rudiger fits in when he’s back from injury.
