Jamie Redknapp was left waxing lyrical about Chelsea star Mason Mount for his performance on Saturday, as he helped guide his team to a slender 1-0 win over Fulham.
It certainly wasn’t a vintage display from the Blues, but ultimately they gained a much-needed three points in the Premier League as they seek to turnaround their indifferent form.
The momentum swung in Chelsea’s favour when Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson was sent off on the stroke of half-time at Craven Cottage.
Frank Lampard’s side dominated the ball for large spells without too much cutting edge and Fulham were a threat.
They eventually found a breakthrough in the 78th minute when Mount fired in a shot from inside the box.
Sky Sports pundit Redknapp claimed post-match that the England international was pivotal to Chelsea’s win.
“It was not just his goal, he was the man today for Chelsea,” Redknapp said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“From minute one he wanted the ball and made things happen. He was energetic, he pressed, and he had the pivotal moment with a really important volley.
“He had energy. He set the tempo, all game. Frank has a few players in that team that he’ll be picking every week. He’s one, Edouard Mendy, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell… There’s only a few of them.”

Despite dividing opinion in the Chelsea fanbase, Mount is one of the most consistent players in the squad and the manager’s faith in him is justified.
The 22-year-old academy graduate is going to give everything when he’s on the pitch with work-rate and endeavour.
It’s up to him to blend that with quality, something he’s capable of doing.
The box-to-box central midfielder popped up with the match-winner against Fulham and scoring regular goals will help him really grow into a top, top player.
