Former Chelsea captain John Terry has given a glowing verdict on his Instagram about West Ham’s Declan Rice, who has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Times reports that West Ham value the England international at more than £80million amid renewed interest from the Blues.
It is claimed that Premier League and London rivals West Ham have already rejected proposed swap deals involving Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi.
Chelsea legend Terry has shared a post on social media where he is pictured alongside Rice and he gave a glowing verdict on him.
“What a CB partnership this would have been Declan Rice. I’m playing LCB though. Good to catch up mate, unbelievable player who will continue to get better and better,” he wrote on Instagram.
Rice is a versatile enforcer that has shown at the London Stadium he can play a crucial role in the centre of the park as a defensive midfielder, but he’s also got the versatility to slot into a centre-back position.
The 21-year-old has made a name for himself at West Ham in recent years after making a breakthrough from their academy, but was previously on the books at Chelsea at an even younger age before being released.
Frank Lampard’s side are crying out for an all-action centre-back in their side going into next season and there are many fans who feel the West Ham talisman is perfect for them.
It looks like any possible deal is a long way off based off recent reports, but Chelsea legend Terry is clearly a big admirer of Rice.
