Le Tissier believes Lampard has dropped a clue about January signings

Transfer rumours have been rife surrounding Chelsea in recent weeks. The lifting of the transfer ban, coupled with the dip in form has caused great speculation over signings that Lampard may make in January. Former Premier League forward Matt Le Tissier felt that Lampard dropped a clue about his January movements.

The Chelsea boss was rightfully disappointed after his side lost 2-0 to Southampton on Boxing Day. It was yet another home defeat for the club against a side that they would hope to beat.

As reported by The Daily Express, Le Tissier felt Lampard’s comments suggested the desire to bring some new faces in. He said: ”I think I’ve seen Frank criticise some of his players for a lack of personality in his team and I think that kind of gives you a clue as to perhaps what he will be looking for in January.

”I think had they won those three games and then been sitting pretty, he’d have probably have left it. But I think you’re right, I think those three home defeats against teams who he will think he probably should be taking maximum points out of, I think that will just say to him ‘Okay, maybe I need a little bit of improvement’.”

The January transfer window opens on Wednesday, and it will be interesting to see what moves Chelsea make and when. Lampard will want to identify and bring in targets as soon as possible so that they can get to know the rest of the team and acclimatise as soon as possible.
