Jorginho and Kovacic have forged a fine relationship in the Blues midfield under Thomas Tuchel.

The German coach has regular played the pair together to extremely good effect.

They both started and contributed to Chelsea’s 2-0 Champions League win over Porto on Wednesday.

It was Jorginho’s fine pass to set up Mason Mount’s opener, whilst Kovacic rarely put a foot wrong against the Portuguese champions.

There was a lot of love from the Croatian about his teammate, who he has worked so closely with over the past few seasons.

“Jorginho is just very intelligent player,” said Kovacic.

“His positioning is just amazing. Although he’s not too strong or too fast, he’s just amazing where he puts himself on the pitch.

“I think a lot of young players can learn a lot from him because he’s such an intelligent player.”

Ever since signing from Napoli for £50m (Sky Sports) in 2018, Jorginho has cut a completed figure with Chelsea fans.

He certainly divides opinion, but is certainly beginning to win more of those doubters over with his recent form.

Because of this, Tuchel now has a really nice blend of central midfielders to work with.

Alongside Jorginho’s intellect and Kovacic’s class, he can also deploy the one-man mini machine in N’Golo Kante.

All three have been rotated by the Blues manager and is one of the main reasons behind his excellent start to life in South West London.
