Thierry Henry has praised the quality of Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, who he admits is not everyone’s cup of tea.
Giroud, 34, is a Blues centre-forward that scored six Champions League goals during the club’s run to winning this season’s elite European tournament.
The experienced star is not a nailed-on starter, but still an important contributor at Stamford Bridge.
He’s turned out to be an inspired £18million signing after he joined from Arsenal back in January 2018.
Chelsea frontman Giroud is currently away on internatonal duty with France and is the second-highest goalscorer in his country’s history.
Henry, who tops France’s goalscoring chart, has hailed Giroud:
“Let’s be honest Giroud has done well for the national team. I know he’s maybe not everyone’s cup of tea at times, but he has done well,” Henry said.
Chelsea forward Giroud has stunning CV
Giroud doesn’t always get the credit from the wide football audience due to the fact he’s not the most eye-catching player. Fortunately, he’s got the respect of his peers.
He’s capable of scoring stunning goals, but isn’t someone blessed with pace.
Whenever Giroud retires he will do so with one of the best individual CVs.
As well as winning the World Cup with France, he’s also won a Ligue 1 title, along with the Champions League and Europa League. He also boasts four FA Cup medals.
