Leeds United captain Liam Cooper sent a message on Instagram to Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour after his Scotland performance on Friday night.

20-year-old midfielder Gilmour started during Scotland’s 0-0 draw against England at Wembley Stadium.

He delivered a flawless display in the centre of the park on what was his first start for his country.

Firstly, the Blues youngster managed to hold his own against some top-class opposition that were representing England. Secondly, he helped show a real calmness in possession and played with a real maturity. Finally, there was a tenacity and aggression to everything he did that made him stand out.

Gilmour posted a message on social media following his impressive display against England.

Gilmour keeps going from strength to strength

If you consider the lack of senior minutes to Gilmour’s name, it’s outstanding the level of performance he put in at Wembley tomorrow.

He’s so effective as a deep-lying playmaker with his technical ability. However, on top of that he’s willing to drive forward with his great stamina and make the difference going forward.

There is so much excitement surrounding Gilmour after Friday, but Chelsea fans have known about his talent for a year now.

He’s done enough to become a member of the senior squad under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.

His next job is to try force his way into the team to play more regularly and based on his potential Chelsea midfield teammates N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic will be looking over their shoulders.
