Mateo Kovacic has claimed that Blues teammate Kai Havertz is the future of Chelsea, describing him as an “unbelievable talent”.

Kovacic, 27, is a Chelsea central midfielder that is a vital figure at Stamford Bridge, and he was previously part of a talented group at Real Madrid.

He’s given immense praise to current teammate Havertz:

“They [Werner and Havertz] are the future of this club, especially Kai, because for me Kai is an unbelievable talent, and I think he’ll be a great, great player for Chelsea and football in general,” Kovacic said.

Havertz, who joined last summer from Bayer Leverkusen, is a young German talent that was expected to take the Premier League by storm immediately.

The 21-year-old attacker has had a bit of a mixed time so far since his move to London, but there is no doubt he’s starting to find his best form under manager Thomas Tuchel.

He’s enjoying the false-nine role right now in the starting XI, where he can show off his technique and footballing brain.

He’s scored eight goals and supplied nine assists so far during his debut Chelsea season.

If you hear the praise that Havertz receives from those closest to him, it’s clear Chelsea have an amazing talent on the books.

The left-footed forward has already provided some magical moments in a Chelsea shirt, and he’s a flair player that can supporters can really get behind.

It’s easy to forget he’s still only a 21-year-old, so the criticism of him has seemed a little harsh at times.

He’s starting to find some rhythm, which is only good news going into the FA Cup final and Champions League final.
