Matt Targett insists Aston Villa are 'not afraid' of Chelsea
The Premier League is becoming more unpredictable each year. Chelsea and the other ‘top’ sides have to respect every opponent to avoid some shock results. After drawing with Manchester United at the weekend, defender Matt Targett insists Aston Villa are ‘not afraid’ of Chelsea.
The Blues are coming off the back of a winless run of three games in all competitions and will want to rectify the recent poor form.
Villa, on the other hand, have been in good form of late. After beating Newcastle 2-1, the Midlands club pulled off an impressive 2-2 draw with Manchester United last time out.
Despite sitting 15th in the Premier League table, Villa are just five points from fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. They are a team that must be respected and have some dangerous players that Chelsea must be wary of.
It will no doubt be an enthralling encounter, with both sides possessing high attacking potential and some defensive frailties.
As reported by The Express and Star, Matt Targett has revealed Villa’s fearless attitude: ”These big teams, we are not afraid of them. You look through the results and anyone can beat anyone in this league and that is what makes it so exciting.
”We know we can compete with these teams when we are at it.”
Aston Villa are clearly a team full of confidence. Lampard’s team will need to be at their best to avoid more dropped points at Stamford Bridge.
