Mendy and Chilwell make Eden Hazard Chelsea admission
Edouard Mendy and Ben Chilwell have named Eden Hazard as the former Chelsea player they would have liked to play with.
Hazard was arguably the face of the club during the seven years he spent at Stamford Bridge.
Obviously, Chelsea had plenty of big-name players in that period, but the 30-year-old was the outstanding figure as shown by the four Chelsea player of the year awards he won at the club.
Even Mendy and Chilwell, who came to Chelsea a year after Hazard’s departure to Real Madrid, said they would have wanted to play with him.
“I think, Eden Hazard,” Mendy told the Premier League’s YouTube channel when asked about the former Blues player he would have liked to play with.
“Because I saw him when he played for Lille and he was amazing.
“And after he signed for Chelsea, he continued his evolution.
“For me, he’s one of the best players in the world, and every player wants to play with the best.”
Chilwell responded, saying: “I was going to say that as well.
“The way he [Hazard] played with such freedom, like he’s playing on a park.
“When I talked to the boys here [at Chelsea] about what he was like on the training ground and in matches, they didn’t have enough good things to say about him.
“He just played with such freedom and confidence and that’s what made him so special.”
