Michy Batshuayi has joked on Twitter with Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour, after it was confirmed the youngster will be taking his kit number this season at Stamford Bridge.
Blues striker Batshuayi completed a move to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace on Thursday evening on a season-long loan, but did sign a one-year contract extension before his exit.
The 26-year-old centre-forward has been allowed to leave Frank Lampard’s squad for the upcoming campaign and will be trying to get back to his best goalscoring form at Selhurst Park.
He has been the club’s number 23 during his time with Chelsea so far, but that jersey will now belong to academy graduate Gilmour.
Batshuayi has posted a light-hearted message to teenager Gilmour on social media following the announcement.

Gilmour, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, made the breakthrough last season to the first-team from the academy and made a huge impression when given the chance.
The 19-year-old midfielder certainly appears to be a member of the senior squad moving forward after being given the number 23 shirt and is someone that fans are understandably massively excited about.
He’s a central midfielder that showed no fear when thrown in at the deep end last season in first-team action, as he showed he’s someone that is so comfortable in possession and has a great range of passing.
The Scottish youngster also has the aggression in his defending that really made him make a big impression and it will be intriguing to see how he fits into the squad when he’s available again.
