Morata Injury, Fry Interest, and Conte to Quit?

Morata Injury

Chelsea have been dealt an injury blow after Alvaro Morata was ruled out for at least the next four weeks with a hamstring injury. The summer signing started in the Blues’ 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend, but was withdrawn early on after complaining about discomfort in his thigh. As a result, Morata misses out on the Spanish national side’s fixtures in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, and could miss up to two months of action for Antonio Conte’s side. Chelsea’s record transfer has made an instant impact at Stamford Bridge, scoring seven goals already in all competitions this season. Michy Batshuayi is the only other senior striking option available at the club, and will take his place in the starting line-up.

Fry Interest

Recent reports have linked Chelsea with a move for Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry. The 20-year-old has been impressive for Boro so far this season, and his performances have reportedly caught the eye of a number of Premier League sides, with the likes of Manchester United, Everton, as well as Chelsea all interested. Fry was recently called up to the England Under-21s side for their fixtures against Scotland and Andorra, and was part of the Under-20s side that won the World Cup in South Korea during the summer.

Conte to Quit?

Antonio Conte has plans to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, according to various reports. The Italian joined the Blues last year, and guided Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first in charge. Reports have suggested that Conte is eyeing a return to Italy and Serie A, something that will no doubt interest a number of clubs. Sources close to Conte have said that the manager was disappointed with Chelsea’s summer transfer activity, which saw the club miss out on a number of first choice targets, with summer target Romelu Lukaku joining Manchester United instead.
