Chelsea youngster Ola Aina has revealed his reasons for leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.
The youngster signed a new contract with Chelsea and then went on loan to Torino for the season.
Opportunities for Aina in the first team aren’t there. However, he has revealed that he had to find the right club to develop with before leaving London.
Speaking to Torino’s official channel, Aina claimed he needed to find a place that believed in him.
I know this is a club that believes in young people and this is very important. Torino has been following me for some time and I hope to do well. In Italy I know that I can learn a lot, because the tactics and organisation of play are essential. Now it’s my turn, I can’t wait to get started. I really want to experience this new experience to the fullest
Aina made three substitute appearances for Chelsea before moving to Italy. After spending a full season on loan at Hull City in the Championship, Chelsea saw enough to offer a new contract.
The fresh terms keep the 21-year-old at Stamford Bridge until 2021. However, where his first-team chances will come from in the future is the biggest question mark in the youngster’s future.
Chelsea has a wealth of quality options in defence, and Maurizio Sarri will no doubt add to them before Aina’s return.
However, the club clearly has belief in the youngster to provide a breakthrough at some stage given the fresh terms.
Chelsea host Arsenal in a colossal battle on Saturday evening, whilst Aina is eligible to go straight into Torino’s squad for their match at home to Roma on Sunday.
