Chelsea should consider a move for Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez. The Argentine forward has been in brilliant form this season and is attracting interest from all around Europe.
There will be major competition for his signature, but he could be marquee signing that Roman Abramovich is looking for to take the Blues to the next level. The Transfer Window Podcast has reported that the Chelsea owner is keen to make a statement signing to take the club back to the top.
The Inter forward would certainly be that. The 22-year-old is quickly becoming one of the most dangerous strikers in Europe and has been a revelation for the Italian club this season. He has scored 10 goals in 19 Serie A appearances, along with another five in the Champions League group stage.
The Daily Mail has reported that Barcelona could be preparing a £100 million bid for the Argentine forward this summer. He is one of Europe’s hottest prospects and Chelsea will have to fight off a number of other clubs if they are to secure his services.
Martinez, if signed by the Blues, would probably want to come in as the club’s first-team striker. Tammy Abraham has been great under Lampard this season, but a move for the Inter forward could see a fierce battle break out for the starting striker spot.
This could cause problems, but it could also drive both players to push their limits. Competition often drives players to become even better. Chelsea could find themselves with two of Europe’s most dangerous attackers on their hands if they can secure a deal for the Argentine hitman.
