Pat Nevin suggests that Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is someone that is often wrongly criticised.
Unfortunately, the 29-year-old has divided opinion during his three years at Stamford Bridge. However, he’s now part of a historic Blues side.
The Italy international played the full 90 minutes during Chelsea’s triumph over Manchester City last month in the Champions League final.
He often receives criticism because he’s not the most eye-catching player on the pitch, but he’s integral when he’s in the mood.
The deep-lying midfield playmaker dictates games by himself and is one of the real leaders in the Blues dressing room.
Nevin has waxed lyrical about Jorginho’s unique ability:
“Jorginho, gets a bad press from some people. The guy is absolutely amazing. He just controls games, and there are very few people in world football who can do it like that,” Nevin said.
Jorginho time at Chelsea has been a rollercoaster so far
There may still be plenty of stories left in Jorginho’s spell as a Chelsea player. But he would be remembered for a long time if he walked away this summer.
At times, he’s been public enemy number one with fans. The midfielder’s lack of mobility can be his undoing at times.
However, he’s now a European champion, and impressed throughout the Champions League competition.
The midfielder has had so many highs and lows as a Chelsea player, but he’s someone who’s always a hot top of discussion.
