Pat Nevin wowed by the combination of two Chelsea players together

Pat Nevin has claimed that the Chelsea combination of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho is unrivalled on its day.

Chelsea secured an impressive 2-0 home win on Monday evening against Everton in the Premier League, which strengthened their position in fourth in the table.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel remains unbeaten during his time in charge at Stamford Bridge and one noticeable rule under him so far is the rotation of his players.

It feels like the majority of the squad have been given opportunities and there is one interesting ongoing battle taking place in the centre of the park.

The experienced trio of Kovacic, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante have been rotated so far.

It was a Kovacic-Jorginho partnership that started in the centre of the park against Everton and they ran the game.

Nevin feels that the combination of the two ball-playing midfielders is almost unrivalled when they click on the pitch.

“They’re telepathic. There are a few times when they play passes together, and I don’t know two other players in the league that would play passes to each other in that situation,” Nevin said, as quoted by the club’s official Youtube account.

“They understand their ability to roll other players. It’s so hard to explain how good an understanding that is. I don’t actually think there is any better than those two when they’re working together that well.

“They sometimes come up against four players, the two of them, and I think the four of them are outnumbered.”

If Chelsea are worried about counter-attacks or opposition players, then Kante has to be the go-to midfielder for Tuchel.

But it’s been seen in several matches that the Blues can be effective with the Jorginho-Kovacic combination as well.

Jorginho, 29, converted a penalty against Everton and he really dictated the play with his ability to take the ball in any area of the pitch.

Meanwhile, 26-year-old Kovacic compliments him really well in possession and it looks like the duo love playing together.
