PSG Interest
Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly registered their interest in bringing N’Golo Kante to the French capital next summer. Accordng to reports, the French side are willing to pay up to £90 million to bring the PFA Player of the Year winner to Paris, but Chelsea are not willing to sell the midfielder. The Frenchman has won back-to-back Premier League titles in his two seasons in England, and has become a key player in Chelsea’s midfield since joining the club from Leicester last season in a deal worth around £32 million. PSG could turn to Real Madrid’s Casemiro as a backup option, should their bid to sign Kante fail.
Boxing Rejection
Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge had been tipped as a potential host for a future boxing bout between George Groves and Chris Eubank Jr, but any possibility of a fight at the stadium has been ruled out. Groves, who is a huge supporter of Chelsea, claims he would love to have the fight at Stamford Bridge. However, the Blues have ruled that out due to fears over any potential damage caused to the pitch midway through the season. The fight might remain in West London, however, as Fulham’s Craven Cottage is looking likely as a venue.
Ballon d’Or Nominations
Two Chelsea players have been nominated for this year’s Ballon D’Or, alongside 28 other players from around Europe. Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante received nominations for their impressive seasons, as they helped the Blues lift the Premier League title, and reach the FA Cup final. Kante’s season saw him named as PFA Player of the Year and the FWA Footballer of the Year, as well as the Chelsea Players’ Player of the Year. Similarly, Hazard was named as Chelsea Player of the Year for the third time, as the Belgian scored 16 Premier League goals. Hazard has been nominated on three occasions, whereas this is Kante’s first. Unfortunately for both players, history isn’t on their side, as nobody has won the trophy as a Chelsea player.
