Chelsea defender Reece James posted a heartfelt message on social media after making his England debut on Thursday night, which prompted responses from both Declan Rice and Mason Mount.
James was handed his first senior England cap during a 3-0 win over Wales at Wembley, as he was given an appearance off the bench in the international friendly.
The 20-year-old has become an important first-team player at Stamford Bridge in the past year under Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and his rise has not gone unnoticed.
He got to represent the Three Lions for the first time on the main stage and he’s one of numerous quality right-backs available to Gareth Southgate’s England.
James entered the action in the 58th minute to replace captain Kieran Trippier and it was another big step forward in his career.
The attack-minded right-back is already a key part of a Chelsea side that will have huge ambitions this season following a busy transfer window and is clearly in Southgate’s thinking too.
He’s started the new league season impressively, scoring a thunderbolt from long-range in a Premier League win over Brighton in September and showcasing his top-class crosses from wide areas.
James uploaded a message on Instagram following his England debut, which prompted responses from Chelsea teammate Tammy Abraham and also West Ham’s Declan Rice.

I’d like to thank the manager for giving me this opportunity, and everyone else that’s believed in me and supported me to get to this point in my career. It’s still not the same without the fans but hopefully you will all be back soon🤞🏽 If you have a dream never stop believing in yourself and working hard. You never know where it could take you! I will continue working hard for more of these special moments🙌🏽 #3lions
