Christopher Nkunku enjoyed his debut for Chelsea earlier this week in a pre-season friendly against Wrexham.
New Blues attacker Christopher Nkunku, who cost £52million (Sky Sports) to sign from RB Leipzig this summer, started with a fantastic goal in a 5-0 win over Wrexham.
The Frenchman got 45 minutes into his legs after coming on as a half-time substitute in the friendly match, which gave Chelsea supporters their first glimpse at him.
The versatile forward stepped straight into the No 9 striker position. It worked out a treat as he penetrated the Wrexham defence with a run in behind into space before rounding the goalkeeper and finishing.
Incidentally, Nkunku shared on Chelsea’s YouTube channel after his debut that he’s glad Mauricio Pochettino played him in his preferred position as the centre-forward.

Nkunku celebrated his first outing in Chelsea colours with an Instagram post.
Blues defender Reece James, who’s late flying out to the pre-season tour of the United States due to illness, responded in the comment section with a wordless message.

We’re guessing James’ cold face emoji was in reference to Nkunku’s ice cold finish against Wrexham.
In fairness, a lot of his Leipzig goals included lobs and calm finishes, so we hope to see him bring that to Stamford Bridge.

It’s been a while since a Chelsea player has made you feel confident when he’s 1v1 with an opposition keeper, but perhaps the club has managed to find one.
We still have doubts about Nkunku’s best role and how he’ll best fit into the starting line-up, but Pochettino has another four warm-up games to work out plans before the Premier League opener against Liverpool.
Let’s wait and see how the 25-year-old speedster gets on this weekend against Brighton.
