Chelsea are preparing to offer N’Golo Kante a fresh extension on his current deal as he enters into the final two years of his Stamford Bridge agreement.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are keen to tie down Kante beyond his 2023 end date.
He has flourished in the past few weeks, especially across both Champions League fixtures with Real Madrid.
“For me he is an example and has an unbelievable input in any team in the world,” admitted Thomas Tuchel, ahead of the second leg.
“He is key, and he will be key against Real Madrid and I hope in the best way possible.”
This new deal is not only a reward for his recent performances but to fend off interest from outside parties.
Massimo Moratti, ex-Inter Milan president, told GR Parlamento that buying the Blues midfielder would help his former club win Serie A.
Inter have made no concrete offers or approaches for Kante. Also, they clearly didn’t need him to collect the Italian title.
The French international is aiming to claim silverware of his own with Chelsea this campaign.
Tuchel has guided the team into a tantalising position of clinching the Champions League and FA Cup in one swoop.
Kante will come against a few familiar faces when the Blues take on Leicester City at Wembley on Saturday.
Manchester City then awaits on the 29th of May in the European finale, as Chelsea aims to overcome Pep Guardiola for a third time in less than a month.
