Neymar is one of the biggest names in world football. Chelsea were linked with the Brazilian way back in 2010 for just £17 million when he was still at Santos. His career path since then is well known, but reports are now suggesting that Chelsea are keeping tabs on the PSG star.
Sky Sports have reported that Chelsea, among other English clubs, are keeping an eye on the situation in Paris following speculation that PSG may be looking to sell the Brazilian. He would certainly not come cheap, and any potential suitor would have to pay close to if not more than the world record fee he previously commanded.
But is Neymar right for the Blues, or is his profile too big for him to fit in with an inexperienced Chelsea side who seem free of big ego’s?
There is no doubting his star-quality. Neymar is one of the world’s best and has scored six league goals for PSG this term in just eight league starts. He has to share the limelight in Paris with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi, but if he were to move to Stamford Bridge he would certainly be the main man.
However, Neymar is not just brilliant goals and superb skills. He also brings a fair amount of controversy wherever he goes. Often criticised for his diving and selfishness, the 27-year-old is not to everyone’s taste. Some might say his ego and personality would not suit Lampard’s current Chelsea side.
Bringing in a player of Neymar’s magnitude would improve any team. However, Lampard may be better going for a player like Jadon Sancho, who is still in the early stages of his career and may fit in better at Stamford Bridge.
