Report: Chelsea send three scouts to watch 'Marquinhos'

Chelsea have reportedly sent scouts to monitor Brazilian youngster Jose Marcos Costa Martins. The 20-year-old is currently plying his trade in Brazil for Atletico Miniero.

The Sun is reporting that the Blues sent three scouts to watch the player known as ‘Marquinhos’ in his sides 2-0 win over Botafogo.

The attacking midfielder could be the latest young South American to make the move to Europe after impressing in the Brazilian Serie A, following in the footsteps of the likes of Oscar and Gabriel Jesus. He reportedly impressed in his sides win, despite playing just 33 minutes due to a head injury.

Marquinhos has played 12 games for Miniero this season and has impressed throughout. He has scored once and provided three assists for a side who finished 13th in the Brazilian league.

The Blues are yet to make any formal contact over the possible transfer of Marquinhos but are certainly monitoring the situation carefully. The two clubs already have a point of communication in the form of Nathan.

The left-winger has been on loan at Miniero since the summer of 2018 and has put in some impressive performances for the Brazilian side. He has scored four goals in 20 appearances and has become a regular fixture in the side.

Chelsea officials will be hoping that Nathan will help them in their pursuit of Marquinhos and possibly help them move ahead of other teams fighting for his signature. Both Manchester United and Eintracht Frankfurt are also monitoring the situation.
