Report: Thomas Tuchel currently doesn't trust 'unsettled' 23-year-old Chelsea player
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel reportedly doesn’t trust Christian Pulisic right now.
According to The Guardian, Tuchel is finding it difficult to put his faith in the 23-year-old when he’s on the football pitch.
The report adds the fact that Pulisic is currently “unsettled” at Stamford Bridge.
Pulisic’s a versatile attacker trying to force his way into Chelsea’s best starting line-up, but new teammate Raheem Sterling is a player that looks like a banker to start most games. It’s worth noting both Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku have left the club this summer, though.
Tuchel started the season with a front three combination of Sterling, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz. Meanwhile, his forward options on the bench were Pulisic, Armando Broja and Hakim Ziyech.`
Tuchel doesn’t trust Pulisic
It sounds like Pulisic’s got a sizeable job on his hands trying to work his way back into Tuchel’s good books.
He had a lively cameo from the bench in the weekend’s 1-0 win against Everton, so he definitely doesn’t look like a player who will give up. However, it’s no secret how important the start of this season is for him due to the fact he’s in line to captain United States at the winter World Cup.
The speedster scored eight goals in 38 Blues appearances last season across all competitions, which is low for a player with his individual ability. Fans are desperate for him to recrate the kind of form he showed back in the past.
ESPN pundit Steve Nicol previously suggested Sterling’s arrival at Stamford Bridge would be dreadful news for Pulisic.
However, there’s definitely room for the aforementioned duo in the same frontline, especially when Tuchel likes a fluid attack that interchange regularly.
