Report: Todd Boehly thinks Chelsea already have an 'amazing talent' at the club
Todd Boehly has reportedly already dished out high praise to one individual at Chelsea.
According to the Evening Standard, the owner-in-waiting believes Thomas Tuchel is an ‘amazing talent’.
Usually, this phrase is saved for an up-and-coming player, or, at the least, a manager just starting out in the profession.
Not for a man that’s been coaching in Europe’s top leagues for over a decade and has won 10 major trophies, including the Champions League.
But Tuchel is certainly talented and many would describe him as amazing, so maybe Boehly’s description fits pretty well after all.
It’s definitely a good way to start a relationship, as the pair are soon to be thrown into the fire together.
Todd talks up Thomas Tuchel
Boehly’s consortium are just a few steps away from securing the ownership of Chelsea.
All they need now is their application to be signed off by the UK government and the Premier League, then the club will be in their control.
Once the deeds are finalised, then the American and his team can get to work helping Tuchel push the Blues into another golden era.
And the Evening Standard claim the German boss will have Boehly’s full support as he aims for more continuity within the project.
What is on Todd Boehly’s Chelsea to-do list?
Roman Abramovich may have sacked the man currently in the Stamford Bridge dugout following a third-place finish in the league, winning just the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
Chelsea could still pick up the FA Cup this Saturday, but even that might not have been enough to save Tuchel’s skin.
Yet, with Abramovich out of the picture, it is more likely the rotation of managers will cease until at least next year.
This will mean very little however if the upcoming summer transfer market is not tackled properly.
Reinforcements are needed in defence, with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta all potentially set to leave.
Both wing-backs might require addressing as well to help take some of the burden off Reece James, Marcos Alonso and the returning Ben Chilwell.
For good measure, Chelsea may be forced to sign another striker, depending on what happens to Romelu Lukaku in the next month or so.
So yeah, not much for Todd and his squad to think about!
