Report: What football insiders are now saying about Marina Granovskaia, as Chelsea takeover continues to develop

There is a general consensus from football insiders in the industry that the new Chelsea ownership would be very wise to try keep the club’s current director Marina Granovskaia.

According to The Athletic, many believe the bidders that win the race to buy Chelsea need to keep Granovskaia in her current role.

However, the report explains some feel the 47-year-old may completely cut her ties with the London club.

Granovskaia has been in the inner circle of current Blues owner Roman Abramovich for years, so her time at Stamford Bridge could reach a natural conclusion when the club’s sale goes through.

The development of the Chelsea takeover story is, of course, mainly focused which potential investors win the race to buy the club. There are reportedly four groups on the final shortlist.

However, it’s important to hear how the board may take shape post-Abramovich.

Granovskaia, along with Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck, are supposedly going to play an important role in the selection of the new owners. It remains to be seen who will still be at the London club in a couple of months time, though.

If Granovskaia exits, it’ll be intriguing to see how the Blues cope in the transfer market. Overall, her influence has been brilliant when it comes to transfers and off-field decisions.
