Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante reportedly sat in his full kit watching intently against Leicester City after being substituted off in yesterday’s match.

The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester in Thursday night’s Premier League match, but a point all-but secures a third-placed finish this season.

Kante, who was facing his former side, returned to the starting line-up in midweek.

The 31-year-old’s had an injury-hit season with a number of minor problems, so he’s been in and out of the XI throughout the entire campaign.

N’Golo Kante against Leicester

Kante lasted 72 minutes last night against the Foxes before being replaced by teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The French midfielder delivered a typical display with plenty of energy and endeavour in the centre of the park.

However, The Athletic suggests he wasn’t too pleased immediately after being replaced and sitting down on the bench.

The report explains Kante watched intently fully focused on the match rather than put on a training top after slowly joining the rest of the substitutes.

Kante frustration

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Kante was a little disappointed by how his season has gone from an individual perspective.

He’s been an absolute colossus midfielder over the years at Stamford Bridge, but injuries are starting to creep into his game now at a frequent rate. In fact, he’s made only 25 league appearances this season with one game remaining.

He recently explained now is not the time to think about his contract, despite the fact he’s entering the final year of his deal in west London.

If fit, Kante can still be the difference maker in the Blues line-up.
