Rob Green has described Chelsea midfielder Jorginho as “fascinating” after having a conversation with him about his style of football.
Jorginho, who is now in his third season at Stamford Bridge, is one of the senior members in a young Blues dressing room and has worn the captain’s armband on a few occasions this season.
The £110,000-a-week star (Spotrac) is not a guaranteed name in the XI, but he he’s started all five of the club’s Champions League group stage matches so far and made 13 appearances across all competitions this season.
He is a unique central midfielder that usually plays in deeper defensive roles and his main strength is his quality in possession.
The Italy international is playmaker with a brilliant range of passing and he likes to try keep a tempo on the game.
Green has explained that he was fascinated by a recent chat with Jorginho.
“I was speaking to Jorginho at Chelsea,” Green told LUTV.
“The way he talks about football and the way he sees the players on the pitch without even looking and without knowing what people are doing is fascinating.”
It seems unlikely that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard would name Jorginho in his side if they had a cup final tomorrow, but he’s an extremely useful player to have in the squad.
Despite having a fair amount of criticism from his own supporters in recent years, he’s remained a model professional and on his day can be extremely influential in the midfield.
