Ruben Loftus-Cheek has posted a message on Instagram following his move from Chelsea to Fulham on a season-long loan.
The Blues confirmed on Monday’s deadline day that the 24-year-old has joined Premier League and London rivals Fulham for the 2019/20 campaign.
Despite starting the opening day of the Premier League season, the central midfielder has slipped down the Chelsea pecking order under boss Frank Lampard and as a result has departed Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis.
Ross Barkley recently completed his loan move to Aston Villa, with Loftus-Cheek now following him through the exit doors in search of regular first-team minutes.
Loftus-Cheek sent a message on social media following his loan, which promoted responses from Blues teammates Antonio Rudiger, Reece James and Billy Gilmour.
With Loftus-Cheek and Barkley both exiting the squad, it looks like 19-year-old midfielder Gilmour has done enough to convince Lampard that he deserves a spot ahead of them both.
The Scottish teenager is still recovering from injury, but he impressed with his chances during the last campaign and it looks like he will battle Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho for a central position.
Loftus-Cheek, who came through the Blues academy system, will hopefully be given a run of regular starts in the top-flight and the key for him is staying free from injuries, as he’s got the talent.
